Work environment policy

Our goal is a secure, safe and sustainable work environment where every employee can carry out their work safely and professionally.

Purpose

Our goal is to create a secure, safe and sustainable work environment where all employees can carry out their work in a safe and professional manner. Our work environment efforts shall help prevent accidents, occupational injuries and ill health, and promote well-being, participation and long-term sustainability.

Our responsibility

The work environment is a shared concern for the whole business. The employer has overall responsibility for the work environment and shall conduct systematic work environment management in cooperation with employees.

All employees are responsible for:

  • following applicable procedures and safety regulations,
  • using the prescribed personal protective equipment,
  • reporting risks, near misses and accidents,
  • contributing to a respectful and inclusive work environment,
  • raising work environment problems as early as possible,
  • being free from alcohol and drugs during working hours and whenever work is performed on behalf of the company.

Alcohol and drugs

Our workplace shall be free from alcohol and drugs. Alcohol or narcotics may not be used, possessed or have an effect during working hours or in connection with work on behalf of the company.

Employees may not perform work tasks if they are under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or other intoxicants in a way that could pose a risk to their own safety or that of others.

Misuse or use of medication that affects the ability to work can also constitute a work environment risk. Employees who use medication that may affect, for example, reaction time, concentration or judgement shall, where necessary, raise this with their manager to ensure the work can be carried out safely.

The company shall work preventively through information, clear rules and attention to work environment risks. If an employee has problems with alcohol or drugs, the matter shall be handled respectfully and in accordance with applicable legislation and the company’s procedures. Wherever possible, the aim shall be to prevent ill health and support the employee in returning to a safe working situation.

Where there is suspicion of impairment at work, the responsible manager shall act in line with the company’s procedures and with regard to the safety of the person concerned and other employees.

Preventive work environment management

We shall regularly examine the work environment and identify physical as well as organisational and social risks. Identified risks shall be assessed and remedied as far as possible.

We actively work to prevent, among other things:

  • workplace accidents and occupational injuries,
  • musculoskeletal strain injuries,
  • stress and unhealthy workloads,
  • victimisation,
  • harassment and discrimination,
  • alcohol- and drug-related work environment risks,
  • risks linked to work equipment, premises and working methods.

Near misses and accidents shall be reported, investigated and followed up to reduce the risk of similar incidents happening again.

Organisational and social work environment

We shall promote a work environment in which employees feel respected, involved and secure. Workload, working hours, cooperation, leadership and opportunities for recovery shall be given attention as a natural part of work environment management.

Victimisation, bullying, harassment and discrimination are not accepted. Problems shall be dealt with promptly and respectfully.

Competence and information

All employees shall receive the induction and information required to carry out their tasks safely. When tasks, working methods, equipment or other conditions change, the need for information and training shall be assessed.

Employees shall also be informed of the company’s alcohol and drug policy and of where they can turn if they need support.

Follow-up

Work environment management shall be followed up regularly. We shall verify that agreed measures are implemented and that they have the intended effect. Lessons from accidents, near misses, risk assessments and employee feedback shall be used to continuously improve the work environment.

This policy applies to all employees and shall be known and available throughout the business.
